Travelling in Taxis

A great alternative to taking the bus is to take a taxi. Often, there are destinations that are not covered in the radius of the bus services. To go to such places, you either have to get dropped at the closest bus stop and walk from there, or get a lift, which can sometimes prove to not only be impossible but also a bit embarrassing. Travelling in taxis is much more comfortable and faster than travelling in a bus.

One may think that travelling in a personal car is better than travelling in a taxi. Of course, that is true for some occasions, but at times, travelling in your personal car may become a nuisance. While having your personal car with you does not let you depend on anyone, and saves you time in the sense that you do not have to wait for a taxi, it is also true that it can cause a lot of inconvenience in the sense that if you get stuck in a traffic jam - like those heavy ones where you think that walking to your destination would be faster than waiting for the road to get unblocked - you cannot just get off your car and leave it there. With taxis however, you can just pay the taxi driver for the distance covered and leave, walking the rest of the way up to your destination on foot.

Another great problem that can be avoided by using taxis to go to places is that of parking. Yes, that huge "P" problem that everyone living in the city hates. With your personal car, you have to worry about parking and sometimes have to take more than two rounds of the block to find a parking space. But when you're travelling in a taxi, parking is not a problem because you just get dropped off at your destination, and the driver leaves.

However, when travelling in taxis, one needs to be cautious of one thing: not all taxi meters work, and some drivers do not even use them. If you do not wish to get looted by a taxi driver by asking you for whatever amount of cash for the ride at the end, it's always best to set the rate with him before you begin the journey. That way, no room for misunderstanding or fraud is left.

Taxis normally are only an option, but sometimes you just have to use them because they are the only viable option available. So if you live in the city or are planning to move to one, I would suggest: embrace taxis!
